i've been on a bike most of my life. i dont have one at this second cause i think there is toooo many retards in this town. i've heard how "loud pipes saves lives". maybe sometimes they do, but i believe alot of bike accidents have to do with the BIKERS fault. most, not all, but most "so-called" bikers i've followed around here are either out of "turn-signal-fluid"...or just too stupid to use them. i came across a harly rider that got all pissed off because i hit my horn when he forced his way into my lane between another vehicle and mine with minimal room. he acted like because he's on a bike, everyone should move off HIS road...good thingi dont got a "cow-catcher" on the front of my truck! there is alot of great riders around, just not many that want to prove it. as for a law to restrict sound on bikes? GGRREEAATT!!!!!!!!! to many of those crotch rockets out there that make "crazy frog" sound intelligent. guys will rev it up just to prove their something special, when they look like they should be on a SPECIAL bus...living proof that 20 miles and20 grand dont make ya a biker. i say YES on the bill. just throwing in my .02 worth-grabbin my change-and headin for wallymart.

well, i agree with the "loud pipes save lives!!!" they will not prevent all accidents...but i will say they do a hell of a lot more then quiet pipes do. whats the first thing MOST people do when they hear something loud...they look to see what it is...so when you are loud most people will see you. thats my opinion...

Well to each his own and I would never infringe on anyone's right to loud pipes. I was just throwing out the latest (though dated) study on motorcycle safety. The scuttlebutt is there is a new national safety study of motorcycle safety going on now though I have no source to cite, I just remember reading about it in Rider or one of the other motorcycle magazines.
I totally agree with the person who posted that it is the other person you have to look out for. Anytime you throw your leg over the saddle you have a 37% greater chance of being in an accident. Ride safe, RM
