No trash receptacles except for the dumpsters at the main parking lot at Johnsons Beach. I run on the "road to knowwhere" on a daily basis and have observed a increase in trash over the last few months at the end of the road. Doesn't surprise me a bit about the closure.

I think they should turn the whole area over to the State and let the state run it. They do a much better job than the Fed. and are a heck of a lot more friendly. Had the pleasure of visiting Peanut Island several years ago and it was very pristine, and clean, though a 1000 times more traffic and visitors than McRea. Had trash barrels located about every 100 - 150 ft. around the island mounted on a set of posts with a bar through the middle so they couldn't blow over or wash away, but several times per day an employee on a four wheeler would drive around towing a cart, tie up the bag and "tip" the barrel pivoting it on the through rod into the cart and put in a new bag.

But yes, there are certainly a lot of dumbasses and scumbags around these days. I'd personally like to see those that do such a disservice severely punished.

Default nude and lewd behavior forces beach camping ban

http://wkrg.com/2017/02/14/nude-and-...h-camping-ban/

It seems to me that the "National Seashore" is a code name for "keep people off the property." It bothers me that walking from the sound side to the gulf side is prohibited because of bird nesting. Bothers me that everything at Johnson's beach on the left is blocked except at the few crossovers. That there is no parking at the end of the road. Now a camping ban because there are naked people. Just saying.

So the response to a trash covered beach is...

It's the governments fault for not having trash cans and the park rangers are mean?

Sell all public land and pay off the national debt. Better yet, don't leave trash on the beach.

Who knows when those pics where taken...............only the NPS employee that took pics of the worse cases over several years.

Why is primitive camping only allowed after you walk 1/2 a mile beyond the end of the road?
To make it more difficult and thus less popular to camp.

And yes, this suspension is for all of the area from the pass west ward, including Fort McRae.

The trashiest times out there are from now till end of April when the spring breakers are no longer camping out there.

The pattern of desire to close all of the Johnsons Beach to public access from the main parking lot east ward continues.

When the D.C. status quo elite stuck in the mud out-of-touch pansies are crying foul at everything Trump is doing.

I was actually planning on taking the kids camping out there this spring. Now, even if they open it back up, not too sure about it. Long ways down there to be dealing with nekkid drunks in the middle of the night.
