As usual, it only takes a few dumbasses to ruin it for everybody else. Damn peasants.

I wonder if there are disposal facilities to put trash available for the primitive campers? Enforcement would also help never been there camping but I have heard some complaints about the rangers and the way they do things. Remember just hearsay. From what I see being left there would take about 10 minutes to pick up. Do the primitive campers pay a fee or is it free? Everything is geared toward the ones that can pay the highest.

No trash facilities out there, this is a true primitive camping area, leave only foot prints.

Enforcement has been lack since the past administration reduced all the budgets, and "Barney Fife' on the four wheeler left the park.

(Now she was tough, all the way out to Fort McRee, as she did over-patrol that whole beach, and write allot of tickets)

But it was clean.

Since they specifically mentioned Petit Bois, Horn Island......I'll bet they will enforce it at Ft. Mcrea also. While I hate the littering, I just don't see any undo burdens on the hired help out there. The rangers are all prima donnas out there with the exception of the hawiian fella at the gate. Just my opinion.

It makes me sick to see so much trash out there - including Ft. McRae.

I just DO NOT understand how people can be so irresponsible.

I can this ending up like other National Parks with "back-country" areas - they'll have a lottery system and will only allow X number of campsites per day.

It'll become so difficult to camp there that people will lose interest - which, is exactly what they want.

The NPS was set up to ensure that everyone had access, but they are working towards just the opposite.

Some people just have no class whatsoever. One case I read about years ago that sticks in my mind that I read in the PNJ in a story about littering - a guy drove his 4wd truck up on a white sandbar along one of the creeks in Blackwater.
He then proceeded to change his oil. He just opened the plug on his oil pan, let it drain out onto the white sand and left his old filter right there.
What kind of Neanderthal would do that ?
It's a shame that the masses have to suffer because of a few idiots.

It seems like I recall a few years back that on at least one or two occasions there was a PFF clean-up day/weekend at Fort McRee. I think I recall Tom (OldFlathead) almost sinking the Chico Limo with a load of garbage bags (or at least it looked mighty low in the water) heading to the roll-off dumpster they had staged at Fort Pickens.
