To make matters worse, Penn sold out to Shakespere. Now, not only will they be made overseas but the quality will most likely go down hill. HMHO

I hate that the penns aren't made in the US anymore also. I will say though that I bought one of the 750's 2 years ago and it's held up great. Now I don't catch anything other than bull reds and shark on it so I don't know how it would hold up catching larger fish. But for using it for what I do.......it works great and has held up with no problems. I want a larger reel but will be buying one of the older models just b/c I know the guts are better.

I have alot of penn reels and might not use them as much as others so maybe that is why they have been good for me. OR maybe it is because they get washed and dried after EVERY time they are used. They are also serviced every year depending on how much they were used that year, but every other year for sure. I do like the Shimano line also and I have some of those that get serviced the same. I think if you take care of what you have it will take care of you....
