Default Panama City Pass?

Planning on taking my family out while on vacation in Panama City. Is there anything I should be aware of regarding the PC pass? I've got a 212WA Hydra Sport with a Yamaha 150. Had a couple of folks suggest to me that it could a bit dangerous? Comments?

It can get pretty nasty when winds blowing straight in the pass and tides moving. avoid going out when all the charter boats leave and you'll be fine.

South wind with an outgoing tide is the worst. Can get rough from all the boat traffic. Just keep your bow up going straight into the waves and youll be fine.....

Ditto with above post... Stay in the center or west side of pass, seems to be a little calmer in rough conditions. the shell Islan side is a little hairier and shallower. Watch out for the sea doos.

Most of the charter boats leave at 6, agree to watch out for jet skis and kayaks. It's not as bad as it sounds.

I was in the pass a couple weeks ago for the first time and was not comfortable at all. We put in at St. Andrews and went to shell island for the day. Coming home we went thru the pass just to have a look around and the standing waves were crazy. It was a south wind on the outgoing tide and it sucked! Ditto on the west side because thats where I found myself fast. Was happy to get back to calm water. That was in a 26 CC.

You should have no problem in your boat. Its just like any other pass. Just use common sense. I used to go through it all the time in a 16ft bay boat and have been through it a couple times in a 15ft aluminum flat boat.
