javadoc (9/18/2008)That is less than a mile from where my family owns a cabin with an 'old school' house boat...going north out of the marina we are the first big cove (Fishermans cove)...small world...
I grew up fishing that cove! ( I had a distance limit from the marina) I think they call that Ridenour Hollow too.

It mght make you wish you were single.

Definitely check OD boots. Might not be a bad idea to install a high bilgewater alarm that will wake the dead. Put up an easily seen sign with an emergency phone # too.

Install the hi bilge alarm a little above what your bilge pumps can take care of. Power this alarm from a separate battery from the ones that power your bilge pumps. Maybe power another pump from this alarm circuit.

Don't want to scare you.

Where will you dock it? My sister lives on the lake in K'ville.

That is one awesome houseboat David. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting you yet either but here's an idea to kick around. You probably don't want to tow that huge house on floats all the way down here each time you and your family want to cruise the saltwater. Soooooooo, I am available to houseboat sit for you for nothing but the use of the available space!!! I know, I know, that just seems like too good a bargain to be true but, trust me, I don't kid around about living on the water!! I am still bonded and am completely house broke and don't shed on the furniture. I clean up after myself and only howl occasionally at squirrels and a full moon. I do a thorough cleaning of all my beer cans and pizza boxes from throughout the house every week whether it needs it or not!! I am clean as a cat! The fungus that was so rank between my toes is about gone now so that shouldn't be an issue with getting anything on the carpet. And I am now on meds for my constant droolingas it was staining everything fabric that I laid down on. I carry a Tupperware bowl everywhere indoors so I have something to spit my Redman into so you don't have to worry about all that dark walnut stain that I am sure you have seen in other people's living rooms.

I am presently living in a slightly smaller but well maintained camping tow-behind and I would love to move up to something with a somewhat larger floor space. This was my "bachelor pad" for a long time and it served me well but I don't feel comfortable being in there during storms like Fay and Ike!! I thought I wouldn't notice the wind and rain but the roof leaks so badly and the 2 windows on the other side are Saran Wrap, the heavy duty kind, and they didn't hold up too good under all those pounding pine cones that came pelting down on my "palace" during those storms!!! Hey, here's a picture of the old digs!!! I would be happy to let you use it anytime you came down and needed somewhere to hang your hat!!

Oh, one other thing, I do have some close lady friends that "hang out"with me on the beach sometimes, in fact they call themselves the Beach Bunny Bingo Broads because they almost live in their bikinis and have awesome tans all over their bodies!!! (this photo was taken last Spring before they got that bronze goddess glow on their bodies.) They may want to visit off and on so I hope that would not be a problem if you decide you want me to caretake your boat.

Let's do lunch some time and talk, eh?? And, again, very awesome boat!! I can't wait to get my black light posters thumbtacked on the walls and all my junk moved in and set up!!! Way COOL!!! :letsdrink

David,

I do hope you took my post in the joking manner that it was intended!!! I truly love your new houseboat but sometimes I "see" a tale to be told in photos and so I cut loose with one here.

I hope you understand and got a chuckle out of it.

Beautiful houseboat and one to be proud of!!

Some now can take that bilge alarm and have it call your cell phone should it activiate. These are the subjects found on www.houseboatmagazine.com
