For what it's worth .. here is a link where you can comment on the Gulf Council Proposal to continue Sector Separation or let the rule expire (Sunset clause)
I commented on its flaws and urged the council to let it expire ... seems most comments are running against continuing sector separation.
I got this via email.
Not sure how effective comments are .. but if we are given an opportunity to be heard. . recreational fishermen should speak up
I don't expect much either, but I refuse to sit idly by while they steal the fishery from us. They have a history of moving forward with plans despite overwhelming opposition. One of the main things that Comm./Head boats have is organization. They show up and they respond to these comment requests. The majority of "us" complain on forums, say it's no use to fight, say that their representative is working on it, etc. Everyone wants to know where the manufacturers are. Maybe they should call or email them and ask. Just aggravating.
Agree this may not mean much .... but overwhelming opposition is something local officials may notice and at least at on at the local level. Let's pile on the comments!
Yes did my part... This needs to go AWAY.. no man boat owner is better than any other, And the way it is now Charter boat owners are Classed better than Me and You I'm so sick of watching this Headboats and all charters running 2 trips a day , doubling there snapper intake of 88 days while Me and You get 11 days !!!!!
After the FWC reduced our redfish limit from 2-1 for purely political purposes (stock is very healthy), and how openly corrupt government has become, I will believe just about anything.
