Default Help!!!! I'm new here

Could anyone help me with the area here. I'm new here with my boat, and haven't done any real fishing in the area. Couple of reds here off of Fort Pickens, but that's about it. My boat (21 foot center console with 150) is going in a sling slip next week, and I'm looking forward to using it, but don't know much of the area, species, what to use, etc. I guess you could say I'm a rookie. I've fished almost all my life, but not much in the area. Thanks so much.

Im a kayak fisherman, but find structure by googling the public numbers then tie on a live bait or good jig and hold on. Guess its like anywhere else, but lots of fish out there, plenty od people here would go with to show you the ropes and help with $. Good luck

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. Talked with a few bait shops, but it just seems overwhelming at this time. Probably should just start small and go from there. The species are so diverse here and there is so much water, I guess I just have to try what I know for starters. Thanks a bunch for just calming me down.

My boat is being slipped at Rooks Marina in East Hill on Bayou Texar. It's about 9 miles to the pass, but I've been told there's enough fish in the bay and sound. I'd like to go and do some tournaments eventually, but really would like some good starter areas, and maybe a few buddies to go with. Thanks alot.

You can always fish the 3 mile bridge i.e. bridge from Pensacola to Gulf Breeze. Always catch fish there The Spanish Mackeral are moving in now.

use a small shiny lure such as a small silver spoon, or a white jig. find the fish and cast into them and reel, reel. they arent that big now as they will be in mid-late summer, so if you think the lure is to large, downsize. use a leader, they will snikp you off.

Thanks Jim, greatly appreciated. Have a couple of Gotchas, and some small spoons too. Like I said, I'm new to the area, well, as far as fishing. Lived here a little over a year. Mostly fished from the shore, and a few times in a kayak.

Bayou Texar is good spot for light fishing. A buddy and I caught a good number of reds, and specs in the lights. Only problem is there are mostly undersized. I caught my first slot red, however, off by the bridge by Bayview park. Also Bayou Texar isn't far from 3-mile which I caught a lot of white trout and a just over slot red, 27 1/4".
