Right here in our own backyard and ............ Pensacola Fisherman make no presence!
Wow, a lot of hot topics and our usual Pensacola Boisterous and Vocal group didn't show. We can bus groups to Destin but we can't drive singles to the beach???? Anyway............ A lot of topics, Grouper, Snapper, Pompano, and my favorite Red Drum aka Redfish. As for Redfish, I was the only speaker from the recreational fisherman group; the proposal was to go to 2 slot fish, 18"-27" in the newly created NW and NE Zone, and the South zone remains as is, 1 fish limit. ( I was the only speaker that was not from some multi-named organization; do u really want these guys that we don't know determining our fishing future) The end result was the FWC agreed to the changes, but at my request they decided to instruct staff to set a "Boat Limit" so our resources are not raped by less than conservative fisherman! This is not the final decision; the staff will go to Public Hearings and the issue will be decided in February.
