I pretty much only run pump gas. 1,000+ hours on 11 year old 4 strokes in the last year. Not one issue, but I think that has more to do with how much I run it.

Every one's boat is getting ready for fuel problems. What you say, Reason being they returned from last trip and didn't fill the fuel tank. Now from setting with an air space in it for Months with the extreme temperature changes a good amount of water is accumulating in the tank. The first couple days on the water after March or April the fuel water problems will start to show up. Top those tanks off when you return not when you go out.

Non ethinol gas has been way more readily available is why you don't see it much I think.

@Sealark - does a good fuel/water separator help eliminate this issue? Especially on newer rigs.

I've got a picture where I drained one into a clear container and you could see the water.

Helps, but a lot of water in tank will cause problem's . Same goes with any type of gas. Gas doesn't make water. Filters dont stop water they just supply an area for it to accumulate and be drained off.

if you do not want to top off your tank during long term storage at least block off the tank vents.
Tape, a rag what ever.
