Actually WW2, it would be kind of hard to classify them as yankees just walking accross a parking lot, so I wouldn't do that, but getting out of their car with a Wisconsin plate on it is a sure bet they are yankees. Also living in Michigan for 2 years I saw first hand that 90 percent will not say hello, how are you, have a good day or anything even close. As far as the local millitary that is from the north defending our country that I also defended with the 25th ID in the Army, I thank them for their service and would ask they learn to be polite, how hard is it to say god bless you when someone sneezes next to you, or good morning as you walk pass, these things are called manners and most yankees I have seen don't have them, just my .02 worth. But you are right about us beingstereo typed in the south, we still hold doors open, say yes mam/ yes sir when we are grown adults to our elders and so on, again, just my oppinion, not much, just an oppinion.

Yes, I've made assumptions about people based on not enough info....I'd guess most if not all of us have. No one is perfect. But I have lived in several parts of the country, and know well that everwhere I have been there have been incredibly nice people, as well as complete A-holes (including the local area). At least I NEVER make an assuption about someone based on geography alone....that's kind of...well never mind. I can see how you jumped to the conclusion you did given the lack of response. Thanks for the lesson! You never know a person's situation! Good for you for sharing!

I'm a yankee who just relocated to Pensacola a couple of months ago. While I admit "y'all" are very polite in words and actions, I can't quite figure out why so many homes have security systems. I used to leave my door unlocked and never had a problem. What's with that?

i was setting some tile in a yankees house, so we got to know eachother the few days i was there. his wife was always baking and shareing. i thought she was very nice. close to the end of the job the man asked me where i was from. i said i was born and raised right here in alabama. he said he was suprised to hear that. he said it didnt sound like i had a mouth full of rock when i talked. it was funny but at the same time i wanted to snatch a knot in his snowterd a$$. we are still friends and always have yankee/redneck jokes for eachother.
