Default Cotton Bayou Boat Launch, Orange Beach, AL

An advisory we published on access to the launch. It's still open, just a little more fun to access with the construction going on Perdido Beach Blvd at this time.

This is what it is suppose to look like after completion.

Is ALDOT really putting in medians at the "T"? It looks like they are about to create a huge cluster...

Nevermind. Just looked it up. Can't wait to pull a 32 foot boat around here soon. Guess I'll start launching at Boggy Point.

I've been trying to figure out what they're doing around there. Seems to me Canal Rd could still use more improvement compared to that area.

The double u turn lane has to be the dumbest idea I have ever seen. Most folks around here wander into the other lane on a simple left hand turn. What are they gonna do making a 180? Maybe in 20 years they can change it to a round a bout and we can hit all the dumb ideas for a major intersection.

That's just brilliant. I'm not sure if it's just me, but common sense doesn't seem to be a requirement in the engineering field these days. I deal with it in a daily basis.

I'm going to be cautiously optimistic, but my gut feeling is that this is going to be the worst thing OB ever did as far as traffic and roads are concerned. NO LEFT TURNS at intersections. You have to go past your intersection, then make a U-turn and go back and turn right. I'm an engineer - thank GOD not dealing with traffic - but I have no idea how this is supposed to help congestion. I would think people making U-turns would be about the worst idea you could come up with, especially people on vacation who leave their brains at home, mixed with locals pulling 30-ft CCs on tandem and triple axle trailers.

I don't know about re-entering traffic when leaving Cotton Bayou Launch- that'll be a real pain if you need to head east! ...but I like the idea of having the traffic light to help our boating friends get to the ramp from the east bound lane in heavy summer traffic.
As far as the rest of the "improvements"! What a headache.
Well, it is what it is! Be careful out there and bring some extra paitemce when traveling this area of Perdido Beach Blvd.
