Default Commercial Fishing Question

Post on here got me doing some research. Can anybody answer this question? In Florida, what can you legally catch and sell with only a SPL(fish only, not clams or shellfish). Assume that you have no other permits like RS. Out of curiosity I called the FWC and they were less than helpful. I also could not find this info on the website. I could however find a list that you can't catch without the RS. Any help appreciated!

SPL = Salt Water Products License. Hence, You are bound to recreational limits on unrestricted species until you reach $2000. for a 12 month period. After that, you can qualify for a restricted species (RS) endorsement. That means, flounder, sheephead... NOT snapper or grouper, you are allowed to go "commercial". We've got it all, and honestly with the way NMFS is going, not worth the federal endorsments.

Okay so what would unrestriced species be? Just curious, not looking to jump in. Sheephead are restricted. Where do Tuna fall?

it's actually 5000 bucks that you have to make in 1 year to get an RS...

you are limitted to baitfish, squid, white trout, and anything else that would NOT have a size limit...

you cannot sell shrimp, mullet, or any other fish that has a limit...

it is quite technical and i would do more research that what you just read here.

exactly!... apperently it is easier to sneak a snowcone into hell than it is to get an RS

You cantongue oysters and catch white trout and ground mullet on an SPL until you earn five grand, or you can earn the money working under someone else's endorsement. You just have to get someone with an RS to signa document saying you earned five grand under their licence, and they need the trip tickets to back it up.Call the SPL office in Tallahassee and they will tell you how it works.

I earned mine this year, and it was a very hard task.
