Default Coming to Perdido Key Oct. 4-8

My wife, 2 yr old daughter and mother-in-law are coming from Kentucky for a little vacation. What places must I make sure that I go see in that area. Also what places are the best to eat at. Thinking about fishing a little in the mornings on the beach. Any information would be greatly appreciate it. You can pm me if you would like.

Thanks

Scott

any cuisine that you think I must try before I head back. But would definitely love a seafood restaurant one night.

Overall seafood -Flounders on 800 Quietwater Beach Rd (Pensacola Beach) or The Fish House on 600 Barracks St. (Downtown Pensacola)(470-0003)

Shrimp and oysters -Peg Leg Pete's on 1010 Ft Pickens Rd (Pensacola Beach)

Oysters - Atlas Oyster Bar on 600 Barracks St. (Downtown Pensacola)(437-1961)

Mullet -Chet's on 3708 W. Navy Blvd

Call for hours of operation.

Hope you and your family have a wonderful stay in the Pensacola area.

P.S. I just realised that you said Perdido Key Area. The places I mentioned are all in Pensacola or Pensacola Beach. I'm sure other PFF members will steer you to restaurants that are closer to you.

If you're staying on Perdido Key, you might check out the following that will be pretty close by:

1. Obviously, the beautiful beaches on either the Florida or Alabama coast.

2. Not sure if the Blue Angels are still practicing on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, but check their website and go see them if they are. Back entrance to NAS Pensacola is close to Perdido Key. Their practice sessions are very cool...and you get to see them up close along with experienced narrators telling you about the manuevers.

3. Big Lagoon State Park on Gulf Beach Highway.

4. As for restaurants, you might consider the following: Sunset Grill at Holiday Harbor Marina (good food and great sunset views), Oyster Bar on the Intracoastal (just beneath the Theo Baars bridge), or Lillians Pizza on Perdido Key Drive (great pizza and other Italian dishes). Also, drive over the border into Orange Beach,Alabama and go to The Wharf. They have some good restaurants there, including Nicks, Live Bait at the Wharf, and Guy Harvey's.

If you're going to be "in town" in Pensacola, the other restaurants that were mentioned in a previous post are definitely worth checking out. You might add McGuire's Irish Pub to that list, too.

Hope you and your family have a great time while in Perdido Key!

Another place you may check out is Naval Aviation Museum on board Naval Air Station Pensacola. Same place the Blues practice. It is awsome and FREE. They also have a I MAX theatre that is very good. There may be a charge for that but not to much.

Yes, I agree with kpl. I inadvertantly left the Museum of Naval Aviation off my list, but it is definitely a "must see". (I think I read where it is one of the top 3 attractions in the state of Florida?)

drive about 10 minutes west to the wharf in orange beach. plenty of shopping and amusements for the whole family, as well as LIVE BAIT, one of the finest restaurants on the emerald coast.

The Naval Musium is good to do on a rain day, if it occurs. It does take many hours to see it all and it is worth it.
