Default Buying a new boat

Hello all,

I'm in the market to purchase a new Center Console in the 26' plus range. I'm looking to collect info that will help me negotiate a fair price. To do this I would like to start a discussion about what folks have purchased boats for in comparrison to what the dealers were asking.

Test drive a bunch of them in your price range, find what you like. Personally I like the 31 and 36 cape horn, but the 33 ( I think) Grady white an the 34 or 33 (again I think) hydra sports are great boats. If it were me I'd get a cape or hydra sport

I fish on my cousin's 31' Cape and it is a beast. Great ride, plenty of fishing room, big fish box.

I have narrowed the boat brand down to a very short list and Cape Horn is on top, just trying to get an idea of the markup in the boat bussiness. This will be my third new boat. Never did any research in the past, but since this one is going to cost as much as my first home, I want to try and protect myself a little.

Whatever you decide on, get twin 4 strokes.....Remember, YOU have to like the setup of the boat because YOU are the one having to deal with it....

Why buy new? Just like cars, the price depriciates as soon as you drive it off the lot. You can get a "Turn Key" boat, at half the price.

Look for a used boat with your desirable's (2/4 stroke, Yamaha/Mercury/Honda, Garmin/Raymarine, Windlass, outriggers, 1 or 2 kw thru hull transducer etc...)
