Default RE: Ala.gators in Mobile Bay??

The upper Mobile Bay and delta are lousy with gators. What you see during daylight hours amount to about 1/3 of what a given area holds. For the last 3 or 4 years AL has had a drawing based alligator season for Mobile Delta and Lake Eufala. It's going on right now, last weekend and this weekend. I saw that some group got on about 12.5 feet locally last week.

I saw a HUGE one this morning on my way to work just below the I-10 Bayway. It was easily over 10ft long.

I work in Mobile, but live in Baldwin Co, so I cross that bridge twice a day. I see them just about every day. There are tons of them in the Mobile Delta and around the I-10 Bayway...always has been. I've gotten so use to seeing them, I forget to look most times.

I see them almost everytime when I cross the bridge. I look in between the east and westbound bridges and it's usually fairly calm downthere. I got a gator tag this year and wish I could try there because there are pretty big ones but I''ll try east bay, there's alot in there also. :letsdrink

When I lived in Mobile, a few years back, the Mobile causeway was my Sunday morning jog, and it was a regime to see how many gators I could see on the road or shoulder between the battleship and Spanish Fort and back. The record was 14; its amazing how fast those things can run when they get up on all fours.
