I have been driving between Mobile and Pensacola a couple of times aweekfor Years and have Never seen a ala.gator untill recently and Now I am seeing them in groups every time I come out of the I-10 tunnel eastbound in the body of wateron the south side of the bridge near the boat ramp and also swimming in the canal behind the old Hotel. It's kinda cool seeing them swimming around down there. Wish I could stop on the bridge and check them out.
Have I simply overlooked them for ever or have there always been a bunch of gators swimming around there??? |

Lots and lots of gators over there. I learned a pretty valuable lesson about Mobile Bay/Delta. When you step off on an island to relieve yourself and one hisses, you do not lose bowel control as some might think. Your whole body tenses up and you simply do not have to go anymore.

I routinely see gators while west bound on I-10 over Mobile Bay. Only place I've seen more was around the mouth of the Escambia River. I've also seen them at Cypress Cove Marina in Venice, LA.

You have overlooked them. I usually see more toward's the eastside, but I have been seeing them for year's while crossing the I-10 bridge.

if you really want to see them, get off i-10 and take the causeway that runs beside it. you will see more than you could imagine. some of them are only 20 to 30 feet away from bank fisherman.

oke Ha ha@ Floridays. I can very much relate. Once while in the brush in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com ffice:smarttags" /><st1:State w:st="on"><st1 lace w:st="on">Oklahoma</st1 lace></st1:State> in the middle of mid stream the ground moved under my foot. As I looked down I saw the diamond pattern...and it was MOVING under my foot! Needless to say, in the act of levitating (the act of defying gravity with mind control, a skill I never knew I had until that day) backwards my hand forgot to keep up with the aim control. It wasn?t until after that sucker was dead that I realized I needed to put everything up and close the barn door and the side of the truck was dry by the time I made it back to post. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com ffice ffice" /><o ></o >

Yes! There are alligators aplenty all over the Alabama Gulf Coast, a fact not everyone knows. There have actually been some new local laws prohibiting feeding them, as some folks just don't respect that they are wild animals. Stay back, snap a photo, but definitely don't feed them! And, to the folks fishing from shore, be aware of your surroundings!

Last year there was a guy with air boats that gave rides through the swamp and viewed the gators.
