$3000 every six weeks and 19yrs old....... and still gets to catch some fish!
Looks like his dad has lost him for awhile.
Agree with post above. Lot of folks want to start where the big money is and is is just to hard unless you have the experience or you are a relative of the owner.

The smaller companies are looking because the hands puts in there time, get their AB or QMED and move on to the bigger companies and the better money.

Smaller companies are great for folks starting. You can wear shorts, fish, trust your shipmates, wear flip-flops and no hardhst or safety glasses while washing the boat. Those things will not happen with the bigger companies but you do it if you want the big money.

Do your time get your AB and then apply somewhere else. AB's make anywhere from $270-$400 a day depending on company. In two to three years you could be in the wheelhouse/Bridge making 6 figures a year.

Things take time. Start early and be patient and you will make more money then 90% of the folks you know. This comes with a price though, being away from home and family.

I know someone posted stay away from Headhunters but that's how I hot started and they will also get you a fair starting day rate. Afterall THIER paycheck depends in yours. I wouldn't ruling out bostjob1 on the forum as an avenue to getting into the industry.

If it was so easy they wouldn't be as many post on the PFF about how and what to do to get a job. It will cost about $400 just to go to the bayou and hit all these places. $100 in gas ( if you have a small car) $100 a night in motel rooms ( rounding up, the are about 89) and $100 for misc.

You can forget about getting hired as an OS or Wiper be filling out apps on the Internet. These companies have 15 folks walking in the door everyday.

Goodluck and hope you find a job. You have made the 1 st step with getting your TWIC. 80% of the folks will not even do that or they can't afford to spend that much money without a guaranteed job
