Captain Jake Adams (12/1/2009)For the money it would be hard to go wrong with the Penn 4/0 reels for bottom fishing. They are inexpensive, durable and easy to work on. As for offshore trolling, there is a wide variety of reels to choose from. The guys at Outcast and Hot Spots bait and tacklehave a lot of experience and can point you in the right direction given some specifics on what you want to target. Good luck and welcome to our area.
Agree. As far as reels go if you are looking at Penn 4/0s (which is basically) the standard, I would spend a little more and get the high speed reels (red sides). If you are going to get the high speeds then I would go ahead and spend a little more and get Shimano TLDs with the lever drag.:toast
