NMFS GMFMC IFQ's - We're Screwed
Folks - if NMFS GMFMC manages to ram thru Individual Fishing Quotas (IFQ's), we're truly screwed.
Here is the big steaming pile of SHIT from GMFMC that I found festering my email inbox this morning.

The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council will convene its Ad Hoc Reef Fish Limited Access Privilege Program Advisory Panel in Tampa, Florida at the Gulf Council Offices, 2203 N. Lois Avenue, Suite 1100. The meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. Monday, December 14, 2009 and conclude by 4:30 p.m.
During its meeting, the Advisory Panel will discuss issues related to the design, adoption, implementation, and evaluation of a reef fish limited access program for the commercial and recreational sectors.
Copies of the agenda and other related materials can be obtained by calling the Council office at 813-348-1630.
The Ad Hoc Reef Fish Limited Access Privilege Program Advisory Panel membership includes representatives from the commercial, for-hire charter/head boat, and recreational sectors, as well as representatives from non-governmental organizations. Members were appointed by the Council to assist the Council in designing and evaluating management measures that would consider all issues related to the adoption of a reef fish limited access program for the commercial and recreational sectors. In designing the program, consideration would be placed on the trading of catch shares between sectors.
Although other non-emergency issues not on the agenda may come before the Advisory Panel for discussion, in accordance with the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act, those issues may not be the subject of formal action during these meetings. Actions of the Advisory Panel will be restricted to those issues specifically identified in the agenda and any issues arising after publication of this notice that require emergency action under Section 305(c) of the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act, provided the public has been notified of the intent to take action to address the emergency.

The reason I put "non-governamental organizations" in italics is that the NGO acronym is Fedl Gummint Newspeak that really means Anti-Fishing Enviro-Fascists. These anti-fishing groups arehaving a major insider's say on policy, like Environmental Defense Fund, The Ocean Conservancy, Sierra Club, PETA and even the Audubon Society (I had no idea that raptor birds could catch deepdwelling Groupers. Amazing!)
In turn these anti-fishing Enviro-Fascist groups are fully funded annually by the Pew Charitable Trusts Environment/Marine Group. Pew itself owns tens of billions of stock in Sun Oil Corp (SUNOCO), receiving annual stock dividends in the hundreds of millions.
So what will be the end result if NMFS & GMFMC push forward with their diabolical IFQ scheme? IFQ's will be sold by the Fedl Gummint, and the bloated cash-rich Enviro-Fascist NGO's will buy up all the IFQ's and hoard them, with the fish populations remaining unfished and the recreational offshore bottom fishrmen remaining thoroughlyeffed over.
Why do y'all think I haven't bought anything from SUNOCO since 2000? Every time you tank up with their liquid dinosaurs you are contributing to recreational fishing's downfall. I wish NASCAR would wise up and go tell SUNOCO to go to hell.
Write your US Congressman, write your two US Senators, write your Governor, write the Secty Commerce - tell all of them that IFQ's are unfair, unneeded and unAmerican.
