olilly (9/26/2009)i use a three hook set-up and pyrimid sinkers. size of sinker will increase or decrease in weight depending on water conditions. i will use 2-5oz. sinkers. my line is fro, 15-20pound test. some guys will go towards the lighter side of gear. i have have 8-10 foot spinning rod and real. you can go real light gear for whiting, flounder and other smaller fish. investing in a good Flea Rake will pay for itself. by the time you fish ten times you will have spent on fleas if available. even if you do not rake the sand fleas, i usually come up with some interesting shells for my grand daughters. anyway good luck. when you get a Pomp on you will know you have taken a ride, especially the larger ones.
I use a 7 1/2' MH St Croix Tidemaster and a Penn Slammer 360 w/12# mono......two hook Pompano rig with 1oz to 2oz pyramids. Pompano can be leader shy so I say use the pompano rigs with the small beads and no swivels on the drops for the hooks. Stay away from the ones that have the big beads, are +30# test and look like a light snapper or grouper rig.
