Bryan Bennett (12/18/2008)If I remember correctly, Petronius is 61 miles out of Perdido Pass. That's pretty much the closest area to consistently find tuna action. If you are unsure about your range and think a trip to Petronius might be pushing it, please consider that this is the most unforgiving time of year to fish offshore. The north winds kick up the seas something fierce this time of year, and, of course you would be taking it it head-on returning to the pass, should that happen. Sure wouldn't figure Sea Tow into my float plan...
Damn Bryan, I guessI was typing at the same time. Like Bryan says, its a long way if you have any uncertainties. Plan around good weather for your first trip to get a better bead on what is safe for your vessel but more importantly, your crew. Theres no "Lets just go back" once your 40 plus miles outin nasty seas.
