Default RE: mer- crusiers

Rust on the pullys always gave me problems with belts wearing out early. Timing covers rust out on them because the water pump has a small leak that you can not see. Oil pans rust out on them. Bellows leak and cause theU-joints and much more to go out. I will never own another I/O in saltwater again. I was always working on the damn things. If you can't tell, I hate I/O's. If I was able to buy a brand new boat with one, then I might be able to do the upkeep on one to the point where the problems don't occur.

But when you buy one used, 9 times out of 10, the person before you was not annal enough to keep an I/O in great shape in saltwater.

Just my personal opinion about them. They do keep mechanics busy though. And we have some good ones in the area.

GREAT ENGINES IN FRESHWATER.
