Default RE: Fish Finder Help

Installing an FF is a piece of cake. No need to take it to a marine elctronics store. What model did you get? Most of us have done at least one FF install. I have two yaks with an FF on each. Powered by 8 AA batteries or you can use a small motorcycle 12V, 7A battery and seal it in a tupperware or pelican hard case. You can glue the transducer down inside the hull - if you glue it down using Marine Goop and there are no air bubbles in the goop, it can shoot through the hull no problem. Dont let anyone drill a hole in the bottom of the yak... Use heat shrink butt splices and some heat shrink to make your connections. All of the parts can be hadfrom Home Depot, Radio Shack and Academy. Mount it using a RAM mini-mount - works great. Check out the rigging section of the GCKFA site for info...
